The Possum Problem

We created an animation to share a message about an environmental issue in NZ and to give people some ideas on how to help.  I chose to make mine about the possum problem because we read some articles about how bad the possum population is and they are eating all of our trees.  You could help by buying a humane trap to get rid of them.

Every week once or twice, the three senior class rooms Tui, Kakapo and Te Kahu have Mahi Tahi.

Mahi Tahi means working together as one,  the teachers pick a task for us to complete but we have to complete the task in groups, so the teachers pick sticks out of a bag that will have our names on and those are the people we will have to work with. The people we have to work with may not be people we usually work with so that makes it hard. In Mahi Tahi we use the four c's collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking.

Our task for Mahi Tahi was creating one of Vincent van goghs pictures called a starry night. Each group had to create one part of the picture, but hears the catch the picture was really small and we had to enlarge it to cover the whole paper that we were using and our paper was an A3 sized piece. We had to use colour strips of paper to create the picture.  At the end when we arranged all the pictures it looked pretty cool, hears how it looked.

The ocean is like a beautiful blue searching ground for things to explore and adventure.

There is a great big statue down in the sea.

The men are like fish's diving away looking for food to eat on the way.

 It´s a mystery for how long the giants have been there.

On Wednesday we made spegitti buildings with marshmallows. Our first building wasn't stable or strong so it calapsed. So then we had to make a second building and our second building also wasn't strong or stable so it also calapsed. When our second building calapsed the timer had finished but mr Gunn gave us an extra 8 minutes to add the final touchs but we didn't add the final touch's we had to make anther building.And just when the timer finesed it calaped.At the end mr buckehim was the juger and to know if you had won you would have to see if it could hold 200 grams or to see if it was the tallest and the winners that could hold the 200 grams was Danikas Romans and wills and the winners for the tallest was katas Arli sand racairdos. Since they won they one a prize and the prize was marshmallows.

On Wensday in my math´s group Mr Gunn gave us a follow up.Our follow up was take aways.If you don´t no what take aways are they are like when you are doing adding but instead of doing the pluce sine you do a line across like this  - heres an exple 10-1=9.It = nine because you have 1o and then you take away on of the numbers in the lot and it leaves you with nine.And thats how you do take aways.

My special thing is my dog called Jupiter,Jupiter is my special thing because she reminds me about all the pets and animals god made.Jupiter is a friend to me just like god.

rataś waka

Last Friday, Mr gunn told us a story about rata's waka.rata was a mizrible  person because his father pasted away.when he died he wanted to make shore that he could end this in a good way so he wanted to take his father back to where he really lived.rata was walking and he found a big totara tree.When he sore the totara tree he was like i´ m going to cut down this tree and make a nice big waka to take my father home.so that day he started cutting down the totara it took him have of the day to cut down the tree and the other harf to cut it in to big strips.after he done that he went back to go to sleep so he could do the holowing the next day.in the morning he got out of bed and had breakfest and went back to the tree when he got there he looked at the tree but it was standing staight like he didnt even cut it down and he was like what i cut down the tree yesterday how is it standing up like that so he was like alright i,ll cut it down again so he did it and it took him harf of the day to do that and harf of the day to cut the strips.at night time he didn't go home he stayed there and hid bahind the bushs and looked to see what was going to happen. then he sore all the animals and isects come out and lift up the tree so rata jumped out of the bushs and said are you doing to my tree i'm building a waka to take my dad home one of the creatures sid did you pay your respect before you cut down this tree and he was like ok then iĺl leave the tree so he did and he went home and went to bed.the next mrning he went back to apolijise to the animals and insects when he got there he sore a beautiful waka for his dad and a insect was like well i can see this is very important to you so we made a waka thankyou.
