What is a Biography

A biography is a piece of writing that tells you information about someone elses life. The person you are writing a biography about has to be real.  To be successful in writing a biography there is some Key things a Biography needs, it needs their name, birth date, what they did in their early life, what they are well known for, all their achievements, their adult life and lastly other interesting  facts and points of interest.

Sandra Silberzweig art

In Tui class we have been learning about Sandra Silberzweig and her amazing art.  We have started to create our own art work inspired by her.  firstly we started by creating simple but effective patterns on a pattern sheet then we stared drafting two pieces of our inspired Sandra silberzweig art on A paper in the way we wanted it to look, then on the lines we wanted thick we coloured in bold and the lines we wanted thin we left normal .  After that with our pencils on our draft piece of paper we coloured in the spots we wanted black with our pencils and then combined the things that we liked on each paper together on to one piece of paper.   Now with some A3 paper we drafted out our art  with a pencil lightly on our A3 paper then with thick and thin paint brushes and Indian ink we covered all the pencil lines in.   We wanted to make the Indian ink nice and bold for this part so we had to go over it a couple of times so it looked nice and dark not light and grey.  Once we had all got our pencil lines covered in darkly with the Indian ink we left it to dry over night.  When our lines were dried we used chalk pastels to colour our art in.   When we were colouring  our work in we tried not to colour over the black lines cause it doesn't look as effective and we wanted the black lines to stand out.   Now with chalk pastels they crumble a lot when you are colour with them so we had a piece of scrap paper in the middle of each table so when our art work got all the chalk pastel crumbles on it we would dust it off on to the paper carefully so it wouldn't go everywhere.  When we used the pastels we blended the colours together but we didn't blend every colour together we just blended some colours together so that it doesn't look wishy washy.  Lastly we laminated our art work and are going to hang them all on the wall.

Yesterday our class did instruction writing

We started off with buddy's that were drawn out of a jar, then Mrs Cutler split the room so the person that was your buddy was on one side of the room and you were on the other side. Then Mrs Cutler  told one group  what they were doing outside and I was in this group. Our challenge was to design our very own monster and we had to make sure the other group didn't find out what our activity was. When we were told what our activity was Mrs Cutler took the other group out and told them what there task was and they had to make sure that we didn't find out what there activity was. Then the room was put to silence well we designed our creatures. Once we had done we had to write instructions on how to draw it. Now for this we need to be specific and write down description words that help them understand what they are drawing. When we had all finished our instructions, Mrs Cutler told us what each side of the room was drawing we did monsters and they did aliens. The next step was to swap your books with your buddy and read there instruction and after that we had to follow there instructions and draw there creature here's how me and my buddy did.

Today we did some more learning about instructions and our task was to write down instructions on how to tie your shoe laces. For this we need to explain each step carefully like if you said wrap one lace around the other how would they no when to stop wrapping the lace around so you would need to be more specific and include each and every little step.
