Mahi Tahi Taste Testing

On Thursday we had Mahi Tahi.  Mahi Tahi is when the three senior classes get together and get split into totally random groups to complete a task. In Mahi Tahi we use the 4 cs Collaboration, creativity, communication and critical thinking. Mahi Tahi and the 4 cs help us to be able to work with people we don't normally work with. The task that we were given was taste testing. Each group was given 2 blindfolds. 2 people had to put them on. After that , the teachers came around with the food. The 2 people blindfolded have a job. 1 person is the taste tester and once they have tasted the food they have to describe what they think it is to the other blindfolded person. When you are the person describing the food to the other blindfolded person and you are 100 percent sure what the answer is you aren't allowed to tell them what the answer is you are only allowed to describe it. The job for the other person is to try guess what the food is. If you were the taste tester first and you have already had a turn at doing that you swap jobs with the other person, so you become the guesser and the guesser becomes the taster. While the blindfolded people are tasting and guessing the other 2 people are recording their answers. After you have had a turn at tasting and guessing you give your blindfolds to the other people so they can have a turn. Thursdays Mahi Tahi was really fun and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I really enjoyed it.

Number Patterns

Last week in Tui class, we were learning about number patterns. Number patterns is to continue a number pattern and find the rule for finding the next number. Mrs Cutler wrote some number patterns on the board and our job was to figure out the next few numbers. The hard ones for me was when it was +1 +2 and then we would have to figure out the next numbers so you wouldn't know if you were meant to go +1 +2 +3 +4 or +1 +2 +1 +2 so that was hard. Over all I really enjoyed doing number patterns because it helps me extend my knowledge in maths.

🌎Exploring Goggle Earth🌎

Goggle Earth
Today on our chrome books our teacher told us to search up landmarks of the world on an app called goggle earth. Before we went to do that Mrs Cutler showed us on her device first. At first I did not know what google earth was but now I do and I think it is a really cool app. Goggle earth is this app that lets you search up any place or landmark you want to see. I first searched up the White House but at that time I still did't really know how to use it so that was a fail. Since the first time did't work I decided to search up something else and come back to the white house later. I tried again and this time I decided to search for the Opera House and gladly it worked. I explored around it and then I decided to search up the Buckingham Palace. When I was exploring the Buckingham palace I found out that I could go inside of it. After that I looked at a couple more places. Over all I really enjoyed using google earth because I could see real cool places that I have never seen before and even go inside of them.

A peek at my week

My Explanation Writing

Why I want to go to New York
I want to go to New York  because there is really cool landmarks to see there for an example the Statue of Liberty. I have always wanted to see the Statue of Liberty in real life and go inside of it.

Next up on why I want to go to New York  is their delicious foods such as Cronuts which make me drool. Cronuts are croissants and donuts mixed together. I also want to try their banana pudding.

The next and last reason on why I want to go to New York is their theme parks and at their theme parks they have Ferris wheels and I have always wanted to go on a Ferris wheel.

These are all my main reasons on why I want to go to New York and hopefully someday I will get there.

My Landmark Poster

On our contract this week one of our tasks was to make a poster about a famous landmark. Here is my poster about the Statue of Liberty.

what is a information report?

What is a information report?
A information report is a piece of writing that tells you information about the topic you are reading about. In a information report you use facts but the facts you use has to be real you can't just use your opinion about the topic you have to use true and real facts. In an information report you use paragraphs and each paragraph has a topic like one might be famous landmarks and then your next paragraph might be what they export you don't want to put all your ideas in one paragraph, put them in different paragraphs that way it makes more sense. Last week our Working on Writing task was to write a information report about a country. The country I got was Switzerland. Here is my information report about Switzerland.

Some of Switzerland's famous landmarks are the Matterhorn, Jungfrau, interlaken, Lucerne and Lake Geneva.

There people and cultures are proud archers, fevets, dancers, yodellers, cheese-lovers and beer-makers.

Their major religion is Christian but there is many others. 30% is Roman Catholic, 27% is Protestant, 5% Muslin, 0.5%Buddhist and 0.3% Jewish.

My 200 dollar note

For the last couple of weeks in my class, we have been learning about Famous NZ icons and the people that are on the New Zealand dollar notes. One of the tasks on our contracts was to make our own 200 dollar note. To make our 200 dollar notes we had to choose which famous NZ person we would want to put on the note, then find a landmark that links with the person you choose, after that you choose which NZ bird you want to put on your note and lastly what colour you want. I decided to put Valerie Adams on my 200 hundred dollar note because she is a 4 time world champion and a world game changer in shot put. She has won two gold medals and is won of the most inspiring people to me. I have used hot pools as my land mark because she was born in Rotorua. Lastly I have decided to use a kiwi as my NZ bird because she is a kiwi. Here is how my note turned out.
